Advantages of a permanent list of electors
The establishment of a permanent list of electors has numerous advantages.
Among the most significant are:
-
a reduction in the cost of preparing lists of electors;
-
-
a reduction in the provincial election period to 33 days;
-
a better control of the preparation and updating of lists of electors;
-
an improvement in the quality of the lists of electors.
Evaluation of the quality of the list of electors
We use two parameters to measure the quality of the permanent list of electors:
- "Coverage" is used to measure the percentage of electors registered on the permanent list of electors compared to Québec's entire population of qualified electors; and
- "Up-to-datedness" estimates the percentage of electors registered on the permanent list of electors at the correct address in relation to all registered electors.
