Public Notice - Intention of Withdrawal of Authorization (Parti unité nationale)

March 24, 2018

The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec proposes to withdraw the authorization of the Parti unité nationale, a provincial political party, in accordance with section 68 of the Election Act (CQLR, Chapter E-3.3), on the following grounds:

  • The official representative of the party filed false financial reports and false vouchers, in violation of Division V of Chapter II of Title III of the Election Act, thereby failing to uphold its obligations with respect to financial accounting and reporting and to uphold one of the principles of political financing management, namely that of transparency.
  • With public funding being granted for each contribution received, up to $250,000, any false political financing reporting, as part of a scheme, is contrary to the public interest.

If you have comments to make or arguments to put forward regarding the withdrawal of this party’s authorization, please submit them in writing no later than 4:30 p.m. on April 6, 2018, to the following address:
