Quebec City, May 9, 2012 –– In accordance with an order issued today by the government of Québec, the Chief Electoral Officer, Jacques Drouin, must hold an election on Monday, June 11, 2012 in the electoral divisions of Argenteuil and LaFontaine. Here are a few important dates for the electoral period:

Electors may obtain all the information they may require as regards the unfolding of the electoral period by visiting the website of the Chief Electoral Officer at www.electionsquebec.qc.ca or by contacting the Information Centre of the Chief Electoral Officer. All information on the website will be assembled in a special window dedicated to by-elections. The information will appear under headings designed to be both complete and user friendly. The window contains information that will be updated on a regular basis during the electoral period.
From the website, it will be possible to consult the electoral calendar and press releases, to learn the name and office address of the returning officer, and to obtain certain data concerning the electoral division where polling is to take place, such as the number of electors and the electoral map.
Other information will be added to the website as the electoral period unfolds. In addition to the list of candidates, electors can locate the boards of revisors and polling stations attributed to them, simply by entering the postal code and the civic address of their domicile in the space reserved for this end.
All this information is also available from the Information Centre of the Chief Electoral Officer, during the week from8:30 a.m.to6:00 p.m., and fromnoonuntil5:00 p.m.on weekends. These extended hours will be in force from tomorrow for the duration of the electoral period. All requests for documents may be sent to the Information Centre as well.
