Notes

  • Authorization allows for the solicitation and receipt of contributions, the right to incur political expenses and contract loans in accordance with the law. However, the rights of private intervenors are different.
  • The withdrawal of authorization includes the loss of right to solicit and receive contributions, incur political expenses and contract loans in accordance with the law.
  • Political party authorities are political party associations in an electoral division, a particular region, or across Quebec.
  • A merger is when at least two parties decide to form a new common party. Following a merger, the former parties and their party authorities cease to exist. They are replaced by the new party and party authorities created by the merger.
  • Anyone who undertakes to run as an independent candidate will be considered an independent candidate from the time of their application for authorization.
