The student council plays an essential role in the life of a school. Governance by this school body allows youth to have a voice and participate in decisions that affect their school.
The program called Vox populi : Ta démocratie à l’école! offers personalized support in setting up and assisting student councils. This joint initiative by Élections Québec, Assemblée nationale and Fondation Jean-Charles-Bonenfant maximizes the democratic experience of young people within the student council.
Anytime after the start of the school year, schools can join the program for free. By becoming members, schools will have access to:
- Personalized consulting services throughout the year
- Training for leaders, school teams and student council members that will be adapted to their situations
- Educational tools
- Electoral materials (ballot boxes, polling booths, posters) for the elections
- Scholarships, if they apply for the Vox populi awards
By joining Vox Populi, schools become part of a network that places democracy at the heart of school practices.
