Persons detained in a federal or provincial custodial facility, as well as youth on remand or in custody, are entitled to vote.

To be able to exercise your right to vote, you must meet the voting requirements.

Information on voting

We send the provincial election guide, an information document for the detainees, to the management of each facility.

To exercise your right to vote, you must complete the Personal request for entry on the list of electors.

Verification of entry on the list of electors

We will locate your electoral division based on the address you provided on your Personal request for entry on the list of electors.

Voting

The management of the detention facility will receive a letter addressed to each registered detainee. The name of your electoral division will be included in this letter. You will find all the necessary documents you need to vote by mail. The detention facility will return the ballot papers to Élections Québec.
