Élections Québec wishes to make voting the most accessible possible for everyone. Accordingly, we have recently published a short survey to find out what methods electors with special needs use to get informed.
All those interested in doing the survey can take it online until January 11, 2020 at www.elections.quebec/accessible (in French only). We invite especially people with functional limitations, those close to them and the organizations providing support to take the survey.
This initiative is further to the recommendations of the Élections Québec Accessibility Committee and comments from electors following the last general election. Information cards, which are currently in paper form, do not allow blind and visually impaired persons or those with reading difficulties to read and check for themselves the information on these two cards. Another person must do it for them, which might discourage them from voting – something that goes against our mission.
The survey answers could help us to develop service tools better adapted to the needs of electors regardless of their situation.
