Limits on election expenses

Maximum amount

The total amount of election expenses must not exceed the limit set by the Act respecting School elections. This limit is established in the following way:

  • all authorized candidates are entitled to a basic amount, namely $2,700;
  • to this is added a sum of $0.42 per person entered on the list of electors of the electoral division in which the candidate is running.

Consequently, all candidates running in the election are subject to the same maximum amount for their election expenses.
